Help in Time of Need

Brethren, if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness, considering yourself lest you also be tempted. Galatians 6:1

Focus on Christ

No one is above getting overtaken in a trespass. We all need help from spiritual people from time to time. Do you have anyone in your life who call attention to your faults? Everyone needs someone who loves them so much that they will not let them fall into a trap.

Paul encouraged the Galatian church ti look for spiritual people who would restore others in gentleness. Several factors are needed for this to be done properly. 

First, a spiritual-minded person is needed to do the correcting. It takes a spirit-filled, spirit-led person to restore someone. 

Second, a spirit of gentleness is required to correct someone properly. Only a person walking in the Spirit of Christ will be able to restore gently. 

Third, consider your own weaknesses when you correct someone. When you understand how easy it is to be tempted and fall into sin, then you will be more gentle, kind, and truthful when you correct others. 

Focus on Self

Self often has too much pride to want any help from others. As you die to self and focus on Christ, you realize the value of the body of Christ. There will be times when you need the body and there will be times when the body needs you. We need each other to correct and restore one another when sin has taken hold of our lives. Hopefully, you spend time with spiritual-minded people who are ready to gently help you in time of need. If not, you may need to find some new friends.
